LIU Kwok-Sum was one of the first students at the Cantonese Opera Academy of Hong Kong, where he learned singing from WONG Yue-Sang and northern-style stage fighting from YAM Tai-Fun. After graduating from the Academy, he continued to study under these masters. His graduation performance in 1982 earned him a lot of praises and resulted in being engaged by Chorfungming Opera Troupe (HK) to perform in several operas. He has also joined them to perform in Las Vegas, San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York and also in Canada and Australia. Because of his outstanding performance in “cheong hong” (singing) and “kung gar”(operatic forms), LIU is much sought after by many opera troupes.
