My Soul Lingers over Mountains and Rivers
He HuaZhan & Wong Yin-Hing
This song describes the deep regrets and frustration of Li Yu, the last emperor of the South Tang after he has been captured and kept as a prisoner by the First Emperor of Sung Dynasty. Li is remembered and celebrated as a great poet but not a capable ruler. As a captive, he is despondent and sad. His wife tries to comfort him and he sings about his soul wondering and lingering over the mountains and rivers of his old country.
